Tortilla_C25 Authentic Tortilla Press

March 20 @ 9:00 am - March 21 @ 5:00 pm

$198.00

Bring the traditions of Old Mexico into your own kitchen with this heirloom-quality wooden tortilla press. Store-bought just can’t compare with the satisfying flavor, texture and magical puff of a handmade tortilla — especially when made with your own handmade press.

In this one-day workshop, instructor (and tortilla connoisseur) Raúl Ramírez will guide you through making a traditional tortilla press following the time-tested design of those made and used in Mexico for more than a century.

An excellent project for new woodworkers, the tortilla press will also give you years of great meals and memories as you use it to gather friends and family into the kitchen to roll, press, and cook tortillas together.

You will learn:

  • How to use basic woodworking tools
  • How to cut and shape the press plates
  • How to use a jig to attach the hinges
  • How to assemble the press

In just a few hours, you’ll take home a beautiful press, along with instructions for its use and care, plus a traditional recipe for flour tortillas.
