SGV101C21 Segmented Vessel with Lid with Doug Forsha

March, 20 - March, 21 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM MST

$270

Segmented Vessel Class
When you combine interesting shapes with exotic wood, the result is stunning — and makes a great gift or a showcase for your growing woodworking skills. In this fun turning class, Doug will teach you to make this unusual segmented vessel with a lid. The sample vessel is made of Zebra wood, but students may choose another wood if desired. The vessel is made of four segments that are glued together and then turned to shape, including a fitted lid. The piece will then be given a protective finish and will be ready to impress.

You will learn how to:
select wood for its pattern
cut the quarter pattern to a pleasing form
make staves for the sides
glue staves
glue the quartered bottom
cut the bottom with the router
turn a well-formed vessel
make a turned lid
fit the lid
apply a finish
