Description

Subjects covered include workshop safety, wood, and wood movement, the use, and maintenance of basic hand tools (planes, chisels, etc,), sharpening edge tools, measuring and marking, and basic joinery. Exercises in this class include through dovetails, half-blind dovetails, half lap joints and mortise and tenon joints.

Skills practiced: Shop safety, hand tool use and maintenance, edge sharpening, measuring, marking, gluing, dovetails, mortise and tenons

Schedule: four weeks of evening classes from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, no class on May 13th, for a total of 33 instruction hours, with additional shop time available as needed to work on the exercises.
