An excellent class for everyone from novice woodworkers to those with some experience who want to further develop their skills, this project will lead you through every step, from learning to read a drawing to dimensioning lumber to veneering to joinery and construction.
Master Cabinetmaker Doug Forsha will guide you through the entire process, helping you build confidence as you develop your efficiency, accuracy, and craftsmanship.
Regardless of your experience level, you can build an elegant and functional display cabinet in just four days. Featuring two interior shelves and a Shaker-style door with a glass panel in the upper section, the cabinet has a cherry body with veneered front and back panels.
This heirloom-quality piece offers just the right amount of challenge — and will give you a result you can be proud of.
You will learn how to:
- Work from a drawing
- Create a cut list
- Use basic woodworking tools
- Select and dimension lumber
- Apply veneer with a vacuum press
- Make a traditional cope-and-stick door
- Construct a basic cabinet
- Install shelves
- Fit and hang a hinged door
- Sand and prepare for finishing
Prerequisite: None. No skills necessary. Beginners welcome.
Tools required: All tools and materials supplied by the school.
