VNT101J21 Two Veneered Tables

October, 18 - October, 21 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Veneered Tables

with Doug Forsha

Upgrade both your furniture-building skills and your living room when you build a beautiful pair of matching tables in just four days. Featuring tops veneered in your choice of woods and patterns, plus subtly shaped legs of ebonized walnut, the finished tables are both contemporary and timeless, blending with almost any decor.

This workshop is designed and taught by master craftsman Doug Forsha, a veneer specialist, who will guide you through every step as you create a veneered panel in your choice of designs and woods using raw veneer and learn to shape and miter-fold it to create seamless edges, using special jigs to simplify the process. You will shape the legs and learn to ebonize them, which is a fantastic way to create a rich, dark luster in almost any wood.

The finished set includes two end tables.

Want to make a set for someone else? All the table legs detach for easy storage or shipping.

You will:

  • Determine the final size based on 16”x16” min to 20”x20” max to 20” to 23” high, to fit your needs
  • Select veneer type: sapele or walnut
  • Select your veneer pattern from a set of designs, or create a design with instructor approval
  • Prepare solid wood stock, legs, edging detail (walnut) and corner blocks (poplar)

You will learn:

  • How to plan and process a small project

  • How to apply veneer to the substrate
  • How to use router jigs
