March 1 @ 9:00 am - March 3 @ 5:00 pm

$578.00

Marquetry is the art of making pictures and patterns out of wood and applying them to surfaces. With a long and beautiful history in furniture-making and other trades, marquetry is a fantastic skill to elevate all of your woodworking.

A recognized master of marquetry and veneer, Paul Schürch has been known for his fine furniture since 1980 and is recognized both for the stunning work that he produces from his own studio as well as for his skill as an instructor. If you are at all curious about this incredible art form, this is a don’t-miss opportunity to study with the best.

In three days, Paul will teach you the basics of marquetry, including sourcing and handling veneer, before launching you into a hands-on introduction to the details of the craft, including designing, drawing, cutting, shading, assembling, gluing, pressing, sanding and finishing. Through this course, you will design and make your own finished marquetry panel that you could then use for a jewelry box, small cabinet, or other woodworking project.

But the concepts you will learn can be applied to a project of any size, and Paul will gladly share his lifetime of knowledge in order to empower you with clear, concise, and practical lessons that will set you up for success in your future marquetry adventures.

In addition, all students in this class will also receive copies of Paul’s book and movie on Marquetry to view before class and to review as needed.
