IWW100L23 Introduction to Woodworking

December, 28 - December, 29 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM MST

$382.00

Are you curious about woodworking? Would you like an easy way to try it out?

Our new Introduction to Woodworking class is for you!

This welcoming, hands-on class is designed for total beginners who want to safely enter the wonderful world of woodworking. Whether you aspire to create functional furniture, artistic decor, or simply want to play with wood, this immersive class is designed to ignite your passion and start you on your journey.

In just two days, you’ll learn the basics of this rewarding craft — including hand tools, power tools, terminology, and techniques — as you build a beautiful wall shelf.

Our fully-equipped shop has everything you need to explore the craft of woodworking; our experienced and encouraging instructors will guide you through every step; and our small class sizes guarantee plenty of personal attention as you learn.

After two exciting days of learning and building, you will walk away with a completed wall shelf and a new foundation of skills. Even if you have never touched a stick of lumber before you arrive, you will leave this class as a successful woodworker, with a finished project that you can use for storage, organization, or display.

And if you decide that woodworking is for you (and we think you will!), this class makes an excellent foundation for our more comprehensive Fundamentals of Traditional Woodworking series.

You will learn:

  • Basic woodworking tools and shop safety
  • Wood properties and selection, including the importance of grain direction
  • How to measure, mark, and cut wood accurately
  • Essential woodworking joinery and assembly techniques
  • Sanding techniques for a smooth surface
  • Finishing options to protect your project and enhance the wood’s natural beauty
  • Why woodworking is so much fun!
