Chef's Cutting Board with Raúl Ramírez

Chop–chop! Let’s cook up a great kitchen helper.

In this fun, one-day workshop, you’ll make a large — or even extra-large — cutting board fit for a pro. And you’ll learn practical woodworking skills, too.

Perfect for people who love to cook, beginning woodworkers, or anyone looking to give a handcrafted gift, this class is designed for new and experienced woodworkers alike.

This sturdy reversible board, made of food-safe maple, features a solid surface on one side and a juice ring on the other. Whichever size you choose to make, this board offers plenty of space to chop, slice, and dice and will quickly become a valuable part of your meal prep.

You’ll learn about selecting the appropriate wood, then cut, shape, and sand your board. Even if you have no woodworking experience, instructor Raúl Ramírez will guide you through every step.

Choose from two sizes to suit your kitchen space:
Large: 18″ x 24″ x 1 1/2″
Extra-large: 18″ x 28″ x 1 1/2″

The finished project will be ready for many meals to come — and includes a non-skid pad and chef’s scraper, too.

Want a great kitchen set? Make a Rolling Pin in our February 16 class, available separately.

You will learn:

  • Which kinds of wood are appropriate for cutting boards — and why
  • How to use basic woodworking tools
  • How to cut and shape wood
  • How to sand and prepare your cutting board for use
  • How to maintain and care for your cutting board
