CBD101D22 Make two Elegant Cutting Boards Workshop with Doug Forsha

In this fun two-day class, each student will make two custom cutting boards featuring ribbon inlays in a beautifully shaped maple base. These make wonderful gifts, so we offer this workshop twice per year just before Mothers Day and just before Christmas. You that you can learn to make the boards and pick up some valuable skills.

You’ll practice skills including gluing up a wide surface, bent lamination, and router techniques.

You will learn:
• Edge gluing
• Joining and Planing
• Router use
• Template routering
• Sanding and finishing

This popular workshop is limited to nine students and fills up quickly. If demand exceeds the capacity of this workshop we will offer a waitlist and may add an afternoon session.

Prerequisite: None. Beginners are welcome.

Tools required: All tools and materials supplied by the school. Please bring ear and eye protection and a safety mask.

Class size: Maximum 9.

PLEASE NOTE: In addition to our standard class policies, we are taking additional precautions due to the COVID-19 virus. Effective May 26, 2020:
We will be strictly limiting class sizes to no more than nine (9) students to allow for adequate distancing between class participants.
All benches and shared tools will be sanitized before and after each class.
All students, instructors, and staff are required to wear a properly-fitted mask that securely covers the nose and mouth while inside the school.

Anyone exhibiting any cold or flu-like symptoms—regardless of cause—will not be allowed to enter the building.

Meet your Instructor

Raúl has been a professional furniture maker since 1990. A member and former president of the Arizona Association of Fine Woodworkers, and a member of the Society of American Period Furniture Makers, Raúl specializes in custom furniture and antiques restoration, and is particularly interested in traditional hand-tool techniques. He began to teach himself woodworking during the 1970’s while working in the aerospace industry and eventually changed careers to devote himself to the craft. In 2008, with the help of other accomplished woodworkers, he founded the School in order to bring the highest level of woodcraft education to Arizona and to create opportunities for the next generation of woodworkers to learn from some of today’s most respected masters.
